FREEDOM WITH WATERCOLOUR

These workshops will suit students who have been exposed to the medium of watercolour and want to extend their knowledge to the next level in learning secrets of the medium. If you enjoy the challenge of producing loose, bold and free watercolours, then this is for you. There will be many step-by-step demonstrations tackling wide variety of subjects from rural landscapes, urban cityscapes to coastal seascapes. Chan is well known for his generosity in sharing his insights and experiences in watercolour. Students will be guided through in how to create depth, incorporate figures, and connect shapes, edge control and how to exploit the medium in creating magical effects. Each student will receive personal attention and encouragement. The truly magical qualities of watercolour can best be demonstrated in portraying atmospheric effects such as mist, rain and fog. We will paint a variety of subjects including a typical misty Australian landscape with gum trees as well as a cloudy /rainy scene with limited palette. Learn the various stages of wetness of the paper and paint to water consistency in creating these effects.
