WATERCOLOUR

ATMOSPHERIC WATERCOLOURS

Watercolor is a magical and often challenging medium. Once mastered, it will reward you with the pleasure of creating striking works of art or infinite variety. During this week, I will set out to clear up widespread misconceptions about painting with watercolours. These common confusions hold watercolour artists back from achieving their full potential. The course will be full of practical advice and techniques. My aim is to simplify watercolour painting to assist you in your personal adventure with this wonderful medium. A wide range of topics including brush and water control, timing, perspective, figures, tones and colour mixing will be covered. Daily step-by-step demonstrations will allow us to cover and paint a number of subjects over the course of the week. Water, buildings, street scenes, figures, and Venice will all be tackled. It should be a lot of fun!

Joe has received over 90 awards for his work. Including the 2009 John Copes Watercolour Prize. He paints in a fluid and spontaneous manner. This allows him to capture the mood and atmosphere of his subject with a style that encourages the viewer to involve themselves with his work. He covers a wide range of subjects believing any concept can lead to an exciting work of art. He is always looking for an interesting viewpoint which he can bring to his audience allowing them to connect more closely to the world around them. He has published a highly successful book titled, “Mastering Watercolors – a practical guide.” It is available through Amazon.com, where it has appeared a number of times on the watercolour best seller list.
