ENJOY LEARNING TECHNIQUES FOR PAINTING A LANDSCAPE IN SOME OF ITS MANY AND VARIED FORMS

If you have wanted to learn to paint nature well, in this course you will learn some special techniques that will help to make your landscapes come to life. We will work step by step together each day with demonstration to achieve a painting working on some of the many of the different guises that the landscape can take on: A Waterfall – a Mountain Scene with Mist: A bush track and your own choice of subject.

 Painting the landscape is an interesting and endlessly changing subject to paint. It can be a subject on its own or part of another painting.

 The landscape has universal appeal and a magical quality that presents in many ways. This course will help you learn techniques to paint distinctive and realistic landscapes.

 The workshop will aim to achieve at least 4 paintings during the week – your own subject on the last day - tips on keeping colours clean, some basic composition and colour mixing, light and mood. I am happy to work at your own pace as an individual.

Colour photos to work from and handouts will be provided – except for the day when you need to bring your own landscape material. A great course for those who want to extend their basic knowledge in creating paintings which include or focus on the natural world around you.

Robyn Collier has lived in the Blue Mountains since 1975 and has also been a professional artist since that time – opening her first gallery at Faulconbridge in 1976. She has over 40 years of painting experience. She has conducted workshops all over Australia and New Zealand for the past 14 years, published many articles, held over 30 exhibitions and made numerous television appearances. Her work has won multi-awards and is in prestigious collections in most countries of the world. She has taken part in many ‘Artist in Residence’ programs both on the mainland and many of Australia’s remote islands and cruises. Robyn paints in oils in the Alla Prima method, painting our wilderness in it’s many and varied aspects.  She is a keen bushwalker and walks many kilometres to find the subjects of her choice.

 

She is a member of the Guild of Realist Artists, The Blue Mountains Art Society, The Wilderness Society, Blue Mountains Conservation Society and is a devoted environmentalist. Articles on her paintings have been published by many art magazines.
